Welcome to the home page of Wilson So!

My full name is Hoi-Sheung Wilson So.

Short Bio

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley under the supervision of Prof. Jean Walrand in 2006. My thesis research was on designing a MAC protocol for a wireless network of devices that can switch channels quickly in order to increase total network throughput. The key challenge is that each device can only receive or transmit on one channel at a time, but any device should be able to communicate with any of its neighbors.  Furthermore, all available channels should be used efficiently.

I currently work for Siemens Technology-to-Business Center in Berkeley, California to turn a portion of my thesis research in a product for the automation industry which has very stringent performance requirements. I am looking to return to academia starting in the fall of 2008. Before coming to Berkeley, I worked at Netscape for one year after receiving a B.S. in Computer Science from Cornell University.
